End of April 2020 - AMEN

So here it is May 1st and day 39 of this strange and weird trip we are on. As mentioned in the other posts we are doing what we can to maintain and improve the course. The grass is starting to grow a bit so the colors are improving. Below are some pictures and videos of the place since the last post. 

We have continued some much needed irrigation repairs.

When it's not raining we seem to start every day with a frost. Another small blessing the tee sheet wasn't full.

We pulled down a very large dead tree right over the dumpster one morning. It took a few stages and even left a large hanger that needed to be removed but at least it is safer to simply empty the trash.

Safety First

As most of you know, if you ever putted on the practice green, Harry is a thief. Without any players around to steal their golf balls he has resorted to stealing the neighbors dog toys. This one from the cottage on 18 as I mowed 17 green. Rainy days are hard for Harry as you can see in the bottom pic.

Originally my plan was to not fertilize anything while we were closed but I changed my mind on the tees and we have been trying to push them a bit and get them as healthy as possible. The weather has not been great for this but they are looking pretty good. Certainly better than when I arrived

 one year ago. It seems hard to believe it has only been a year. At times it feels like a lifetime ago.

Progress

One frosty morning the birds were putting up such a cacophony and the fog on the ponds was pretty so I thought I would walk down and capture the moment for you all. Then Harry showed up and announced his presence as he does every morning. 

As Mike and I came in from mowing fairways he spotted a heron sitting by the bridge so I grabbed my phone and took a video as he flew over to the other side of the pond.

The owners had to put up some signs so the Fire/Police/Ambulance can find the cottage on 18 tee. This is 292 and the Condos on 16 are 290. The original 290 sign broke so we replaced it to match the new 292 and cobbled it back together to add to our sign collection in the shop. Mike says he doesn't ever remember a bell here at CCCC. That's over 40 years working and more if you add playing. Do any of you? We have a sign for one....
