Got Weather?

Monday started with a washout and Saturday it snowed. This weather is nuts. I swear since we have been closed I don't think there have been more than a handful of nice days.

Despite the rainy week we managed to get everything mowed. We even rolled the greens once to keep them smooth. Slid in another green surround aerification one afternoon and the next day seeded and dragged it in.

Random oddities from around the course

First rough mowing this week. Patchy for sure but still makes it feel like spring seeing the stripes.

Frosty morning one day this week. I took a couple pictures of the sunrise behind the practice green. Buds on the tree by the 5th tee. While out seeding divots on 17 fairway Harry went over to the condo on 16 and stole someone's Easter Lamb. He was so proud of himself the little thief. We returned it but if it is left out again I would not be surprised if it ends up back at the shop.

Put up a couple of ropes on 5 with signs. Maybe this will help with the kids and their bicycles on 5 green?

Worth a shot

Normally this time of year we would start working weekends usually to prep the course for play. Everything about this Spring has been off. We had a mild winter with an odd busy day and then when the stay at home order started we were busy during the week. It was nice to see the course being utilized so early in the season. I feel as though the weather was better in late February and early March than it has been in April. Maybe that is just Spring fever coming out of winter? There are still plenty of April shower days in the forecast and maybe that will set up for a nice month in May?! The weather makes it hard to stay motivated and not having golfers removes the impetus to race out every morning. Why mow fairways wet and make a mess? So we have to retrain ourselves to schedule things differently. The lack of growth has made it easier with less staffing. We can mow everything, except rough, in one day. Eventually we will have to mow more than once a week and that will keep us busier. In the meantime, we are trying to stay busy with course improvements. We have seeded all divots. A tedious job especially after a busy off season but made infinitely easier without golfers. The latest wind storm brought down more sticks and twigs so those will need to be cleaned up. We continue to chip away at irrigation repairs and may even venture into some tree work again. Hopefully things will get back to normal soon.
